Prayers for Peace 9/11 2010

As the anniversary of 9/11 comes round again, peace is still only a dream for many in our world. Citizens of many countries are killed or maimed in conflicts around the world every day. Many live limited lives in fear of bombs, mortars or land mines. Many are refugees who have lost homes and livelihoods due to war.

As our response, from midnight SLT Saturday to midnight SLT Sunday we are keeping a 24 hour vigil for peace on Epiphany Island. You are invited to come at any time and pray or light a candle in the Cathedral. There will be prayers for peace available if you want to use them. You might also want to sit quietly in the Peace Garden and pray.

At 2pm SLT there will be a special service of prayers and readings on the theme of peace, which I hope you can attend.
