The Anglican Cathedral of Second Life

Saturday meeting

On Saturday between 3am and 7am SLT there will be the third gathering of the group which is working to assist us in developing the ministry of Anglicans of Second Life.  We are very grateful for the support of Bishop Christopher Hill of Guildford and Rupert Bursell of the Ecclesiastical Law Society.  It has been a great encouragement to us to have the benefit of their wisdom and that of others at the previous two meetings in Guildford.

The meeting on Saturday will take place in Wakefield, West Yorkshire UK. Mark Brown (Arkin Ariantho) will be able to attend in person as he is in the UK for the ‘Christianity in the Digital Space’ conference. Members of the Leadership Team will attend by being in-world and will see the meeting by means of a tv broadcast.

We have a full agenda covering several issues arising from the retirement of Mark Brown from active involvement in our ministry. (He is remaining available to the Cathedral in an advisory capacity). These include the implications for the constitution of not having a licensed priest in charge of the Cathedral. We are also hoping to find out more about how we can move forward to finalise the constitution (there are several details which need to be clarified in the draft version such as who may be on the Leadership Team) and how we can begin to work towards recognition by the Anglican Communion.

This is an important meeting which will really help us to move forward further in our ministry. The Leadership Team would value your prayer support before, during and after the meeting. This is an exciting time and we really want to build well on all that has been done in the past. Please pray for God’s wisdom and guidance.
