Just over a year ago the Anglican Cathedral in Second Life was just a wild idea. The idea of being church for the ever growing online generation. And now there are more than 500 members and an active ministry with 5 services a week (and more planned), a Bible Study (and another being discussed), a popular discussion group, and numerous pastoral encounters throughout the week. Thanks so much for your support! This is a problem that we are aware of. We have registered with Paypal as a non-profit organization. We have the documentation that they have requested to verify this status, but we are having a bit of trouble getting it processed with them. As a result, they have suspended acceptance of future payments. It is very frustrating! But be assured that any payments so far received will be released to us when this is rectified, and we are doing everything we can to get this resolved as soon as possible. We will keep everyone informed as to when this is cleared up!

Ok,
How will collected funds be administered, and by whom?
We have a leadership team (vestry) which you can check out at: https://slangcath.wordpress.com/leadership/
and both Cady Enoch and myself will administer the funds. We will also make full financial reports to the leadership team, and at the end of the year we will make a report to the community. Also the accounts will be audited as part of the Diocese of Wellington yearly audit.
Will there be a vestry to make budgetary decisions? Will a budget be proposed, voted on, and posted on a public website?
Actually we are right now in the process of deciding how we approve the budget. Posting it to our blog for comment is a good idea.
Who has been putting up the funds so far?
We have been blessed with an anonymous donor who assisted us in paying for the island (server) for the start up, but we now are required to find other sources of funding.
Is financial support available from Guildford or Wellington?
Not at the moment, but I would certainly hope so!
But I should add that the Bishops of these two diocese have provided other very important services. This weekend there is a meeting hosted by the Bishop of Guildford in which they will be considering this ministry, including the development of a constitution.

Not to be a stickler for details, but some basic questions seem in order:

Hey Hos!
We are located on a virtual island which is a server in California. This costs us around 1,500 pounds a year(2,351.45 USD). Then you add the costs of internet connection, hardware etc.. Plus we have reached the stage where we need to start raising funds to put on a Coordinator.
And given the amazing potential reach of this dynamic ministry we also seek to appoint some pastors in the not to distant future to lead services, provide care and encourage evangelism.
