Hello all!
I hope all of you are having a wonderful Advent season!
During Christmas week, in addition to our regularly scheduled services, we will have a special Christmas Day service, let by Rev. Mark, at noon SLT. Please stop by if you are available, and invite your friends, as all are welcome to attend!
I’ve been putting up some Christmas touches around the island to welcome in the season. Do stop by and check them out! And while you are here, I invite you to take a look at the lovely Advent and Christmas art displayed in the ECVA-SL (Episcopal Church & Visual Arts in SL) exhibition. Don’t forget, most of the art is also available for sale. The art has transfer permissions, and would make a great gift. All proceeds from these sales goes toward support of our ministry.
I expect that we will have a good number of visitors to the Cathedral in the coming weeks. I think it would be wonderful if the members of our AiSL community were around to greet them, and extend the hospitality that you are so well known for. Even if you are unable to make it to the services, I invite you to spend some time at Epiphany, and welcome the friends in our midst, whether you know them yet or not.
May the blessings of the season be with all of you,
Cady

Those of you who have visited the Cathedral over the last few days will most likely have seen works of art appearing around the courtyard. These are part of an exhibition for Advent, Christmas and Epiphany, produced by our group and ECVA-SL (Episcopal Church and Visual Arts in Second Life) entitled “Make Ready the Way of the Lord: An Advent Journey.”
Submissions for the ongoing exhibition – whether they be textures (art/photography), builds, or machima – are welcomed. There is no cost to join or show in the exhibit. Many artists have given permission for copies of their work to be sold for church funds and that is greatly appreciated.

Please contact Gareth Janus or Cady Enoch for more information.
Rev Mark, Priest in Charge of the Anglican Community in SL, has written a paper entitled, ‘The Digital Revolution and the Church‘, in which he outlines the characteristics of the phenomenal internet driven digital revolution presently sweeping the globe. He particularly focus on how it is affecting human behavior, which offers some insights into how we as a church might need to respond. The opening paragraph reads,
There is a revolution sweeping across the globe, driven by the massive growth of the internet and internet related technologies. Known as the Digital Revolution it is on par with other great global shifts such as the Agrarian Revolution and the Industrial Revolution. And it is completely changing the landscape of how we communicate, how we influence, how we relate. This isn’t simply about coming to grips with a new technology to assist us in our work, but requires of us a fundamental shift in our processes, our structures and approaches. If we don’t respond then as Eric Hoffer states, we will find ourselves, ‘beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists.’
