Hello all!

Just a quick update from the Leadership Team. First off, there WILL be a noon SLT service this Sunday. Yay! Mark is still on vacation, and I’m still waiting to hear back from the other service leaders, so I’m not sure who will be leading the service, but I will update the Service Times page of this blog when that is determined.

And welcome back, Gareth! He was lost in the wilds of RL while getting his broadband connection sorted out after his recent move. But he is back in the neighborhood, and should be back on for this Wednesday’s service.

As a final note, the Leadership Team will be meeting on Saturday. Please keep us in your prayers for a productive meeting. As always, please contact any of us with any suggestions or concerns about our community life.

Blessings to you all!
Cady

Hello all!

Well, it looks like we won’t have the “usual” Sunday service at noon SLT this week. As I wrote you earlier, Mark is on vacation (or holiday, for those of you in the more Anglo speaking parts of the world). And the other service leaders have their own RL committments to tend to. Please keep all of them in your prayers as they tend to their RL duties, or their needs for RL rest!

HOWEVER, this is not to say that you can’t come anyway! The Anglican Cathedral in SL is never really closed for business and God is always in our midst, both in RL and SL. The members of the SL Anglican community and other visitors are most eagerly encouraged to gather at the appointed service time anyway, and worship God and share their their prayers with one another at the cathedral, and join in fellowship afterwards.

I would also like to draw your attention to the prayer request box next to the votive stand at the front of the cathedral. I have set it up so that community members and visitors can leave prayer requests. When you touch the box, you will be given a notecard with instructions on how to do this, as well as the prayer requests left from the previous week. I encourage you to take a notecard, and keep this week’s petitioners in your prayers.

Blessings to you all,
Cady

Sermon from the most recent service in the virtual Cathedral of Second Life. Based on Philippians 4: 4-7;10-13 this is a message if you are feeling worried or stressed.. maybe time to get some God perspective?

Starting next week there will be two more services offered at the Cathedral taking the total to five per week. The two new services will be at 1pm (SL time – same as Los Angeles) Tuesday and Thursday and will be led by Helene Milena (in RL Ailsa Wright). I welcome Helene to the worship leading team! Please find a brief bio below:

Helene Milena is an active member of her RL church in West Yorkshire UK. She is part of the team taking the church through an interregnum and is involved in leading services, organising weddings and is a member of the church council (PCC) and Deanery Synod.

Ailsa joined i-church (the online community rooted in the Diocese of Oxford UK) in May 2005 when it was just 9 months old. Within a few months she was leading services regularly and has done so ever since. For the past two years she has had responsibility for a small pastoral group (between 14-20 members) in i-church. She will soon complete the counselling training to diploma level that she undertook in order to be better equipped to fulfill this role.

During the interregnum in i-church from August 2007 to June 2008, Ailsa was Lay Chairman of the Council and also shared the Web Pastor’s role with the Assistant Pastor.

Helene Milena joined SL in October 2007 and has since been involved in the life of the Anglican Cathedral, attending worship regularly. She attended the conference on Web 2.0 and Church in Guildford in May 2008 and the Lambeth Fringe presentation which resulted from it.
